Alberta Council for Global Cooperation

Why Should Your NGO Join ACGC?

Networking: ACGC is a great way to keep in touch with other development and social justice organizations in the province, what they are doing, upcoming events, and where they work. We can also help others keep in touch with what your organization is doing. ACGC exists to encourage collaboration between groups in Alberta and globally.

Engagement: Together we are stronger in applying pressure where it is needed, whether to government, the media, or national or international coalitions.

Resources: ACGC provides support to NGOs in Alberta through information and organizational development . ACGC sits on the Board of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation, which gives members direct access to research, and analysis, national forums, data bases, and other information. ACGC also collaborates with six other provincial councils and various provincial, national and international networks. ACGC also provides a direct communication link to CIDA.

Collaboration: ACGC is an effective and efficient way to combine efforts; through such means as coordinating speakers from the south, participating in provincial or national campaigns, advocating for action on urgent action requests, or coordinating activities around sustainable development, globalization, education, social justice, and the environment.

Organizational Development: ACGC works to develop the capacities of Albertan NGOs through workshops, seminars, conferences with other provincial councils, CCIC, and CIDA to organize events beneficial to members.

Direction: ACGC is a Provincial Council. The members develop the guides for policy, priorities, and procedures. ACGC responds to the needs and priorities of NGOs in Alberta.
