The Sustainable Development Goals Hub
Cindy is beyond ecstatic to be chosen as a member of The Hub. She is currently a student at the University of Alberta where she studies Political Science and Anthropology. She also serves as a member of the City of Edmonton Youth Council. Cindy has always expressed her interests regarding international affairs and immigration. As a migrant herself, Cindy understands and has dealt with the difficulties of moving to a foreign country. Cindy aspires to establish a project that will help ameliorate underlying problems and issues that immigrants, newcomers, and refugees face in her hometown of Edmonton.
During her time with the program, Cindy hopes to create a project that utilizes SDGs #10 (Reduced Inequalities), #11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and #16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). More specifically, she wishes to incorporate targets within her project such as:
+ 10.2 By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status.
+ 10.7 Facilitate orderly, safe, regular and responsible migration and mobility of people, including through the implementation of planned and well-managed migration policies.
+ 11.2 By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, notably by expanding public transport, with special attention to the needs of those in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons
+ 11.7 By 2030, provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities
+ 16.5 Substantially reduce corruption and bribery in all their forms.
