Congratulations to Top30Under30 Alumni( Athiang Makuoi on receiving the #2019RISEAward. She is creating a more welcoming and inclusive community through her strong guiding actions which positively influence youth around her. As the co-founder and current Chair of the South @ssyofcanada (South Sudanese Youth of Canada, @attibangz founded the roots of this organization with her peers to build a new identity for the South Sudanese youth that exists within Canada. She played an integral part in the shaping of what SSYC stands for through committing hundreds of hours over the past 2 years to put together community events for South Sudanese youth. ICYMI: “A recognized Human Rights City since 2003, @cityofedmonton recognizes that poverty robs people of the chance to live a life of dignity. We also understand that poverty is an issue of justice and equity. Our work acknowledges that ending poverty requires a shift of attitude and of systems from a charity model to one of human rights” Mayor @doniveson on Edmonton’s roadmap to end poverty

“We always teach and encourage children to give back to their community when they grow up. For me, I think engaging them in issues I feel are relevant to me and society as an alumni is a great way to demonstrate how we care about our community and how I have learned to embrace challenges in life. It was an opportunity for me to be a role model for these young students.” -Yiwei Chen reflects on leading a workshop on recycling at St. Theresa Elementary, a school she has fond memories of as a former student. #SDGHub @LeadersToday envision a prosperous and equal Alberta for everyone, and they are taking action today to make it unfold. #sdgs #sdg4 #alberta #albertayouth #youthleaders #UNCity4schools #sdgaction Read more:
