THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS HUB
The Hub was created to help young people fulfill the mandate of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A project of Canada Service Corp, is a space for young Albertan residents to meet and engage in a meaningful dialogue, collaborate, and act in their communities on issues they are passionate about. The youth will also have a chance to develop personal and employment-related skills, learn from mentors, and increase their awareness of the benefit of serving their communities.
YOUTH GAZETTE
The Alberta Council for Global Cooperation is rolling out a new youth publication project, Youth Gazette. This publication will feature stories, art and videos made by and for youth in Alberta and beyond. So what will these stories be about, you ask?
The art of storytelling is a tradition as old as…well, the human race itself. We would like to see you sharing your stories/enjoying them in their different forms as told by youth from Alberta and far (can’t guarantee gathering around a fire though). This publication is meant to increase awareness amongst Albertans of key local and global issues, including SDGs in a global-local context, and the impact of intersectionality on gender equality.
YOUTH-LED ROADMAP FOR GENDER EQUALITY
The uniquely youth-led Roadmap – with an official launch scheduled at the Women Deliver 2019 Global Conference in Vancouver, on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 – reflects the powerful perspectives of over 300 youth from all over Canada with diverse experiences and backgrounds, such as youth who have experienced homelessness, Indigenous youth, young people of colour, newcomers to Canada and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, among others, as well as individuals from remote and rural communities in Canada.
The Roadmap includes 20 recommendations that individual Canadians can take today to achieve gender equality within their homes, communities and beyond. It also includes more than 40 additional recommendations targeted at public institutions, the private sector and governments to help Canada achieve Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender equality, by the goals’ end date of 2030.]
